  • They haven't recently. But some girlfriends have been having man trouble. And Lord knows I've been there. As for me, Boris just bought me a digital camera. Best present EVER. And further proof that European is the way to go, man-wise.

  • A digital camera is certainly a GREAT present, but to say that "European is the way to go, man-wise" is highly subjective. No doubt that there must be plenty of acceptable American men out there somewhere...

    The BEST presents I ever get are books given to me by my significant other. They're usually books that that person really likes, so they're basically sharing a bit of themselves with me :)

    Also ADVENTURES! Those are great presents too.

  • Yes, keep in mind that "Yurp" is a big place and produces its share of troublesome men. also, it's not like no American man has ever gotten his girlfriend an awesome present before.

  • Grrrrr to the opposite sex although there have been recent improvements. I would love a new digital camera. What a great present! It allows you to capture the moments shared between you and your loved ones. And you can take naked pictures of yourself without taking the film to Wal-Mart to be developed...
    And I must agree...foreign men are the way to go. To make a brash generalization, American men seem more selfish, less giving and have a greater need to be in complete control while at the same time lacking the qualities of a gentleman. No offense to you American male readers... :)

  • It is not clear to me at all that American men have a monopoly on being selfish, ungentlemanly, control freaks. But there are exceptions, of all nationalities, and even American men have been known to be generous and supportive gentlemen.

    It is further not clear to me that all non-American men with American girlfriends are not, in fact, suppresing their un-gentlemanly nature because they get free nookie from infatuated American girlfriends who dig the exotic trappings.

    Also, may I say that no one ought to ever let digital images of themselves naked fall into the hands of a member of the opposite sex, gentlemanly or no. There's no telling where they'll end up.
